Automated morphological characterization of pharmaceutical excipients and active ingredients using AI-supported image data analytics
The new project "AutoMorph", involving MRD members, is funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs NRW with over 1 million euros. This initiative will use computer vision technology and AI to enable automated evaluation of micrographs, allowing precise determination of particle properties. The project includes semantic segmentation, detection, classification and geometric analysis of microstructural objects.
MRD members Professor Gunther Eggeler and Professor Pascal Thome (Chair for Material Science and Engineering) are partnering with Industrial Analytics Lab and the Bochum Institute for Technology, to develop tools for automatic microstructure characterization and data warehousing for the pharmaceutical and materials industry, promising reduced effort and more precise analyses.
AutoMorph team is honored to host State Secretary Paul Frederik Höller from Ministry of Economic Affairs NRW at ZGH on August 13, 2024.
